Mr. D.C. Pathak, M. Sc. joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1960.He shifted to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 1964 and rose to become its Chief in 1994. Later, during 1996-97 he was the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) – the body responsible for making national security estimates. He was a member of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) from 2004-2006.

Shri Pathak is a graduate of the National Defense College (NDC) and is a reputed strategic analyst. He has traveled widely all over the world and written extensively on issues of national integration, cross cultural conflicts and economic security.
